What is Copyright Music Checklist?
Use this checklist before upload to document every song, sound effect, remix, and clip used in your video.
It does not scan Content ID or clear rights; it helps you spot questions to resolve before publishing.
How to use it (step by step)
- Step 1: List every music track and sound effect in the video.
- Step 2: Record where each asset came from and its license terms.
- Step 3: Check whether attribution, monetization, or platform limits apply.
- Step 4: Confirm you have permission for remixes, covers, and client-provided audio.
- Step 5: Save your evidence and resolve unclear items before uploading.
Pre-Upload Music Rights Checks
- Keep license receipts and screenshots in the project folder.
- Check whether a license covers YouTube monetization and paid promotion.
- Treat royalty-free as licensed, not automatically copyright-free.
- Ask for written permission when using music supplied by another person.
What This Checklist Cannot Confirm
- It cannot search or predict Content ID claims.
- It cannot replace legal advice or a music license.
- It cannot guarantee a rights holder will not issue a claim.
